Brandyn Waters Paterson NJ Death – A mass shooting late Monday in Newark’s Roseville section claimed one life and wounded four others.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says the incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on June 23 at 367 6th Avenue West, near 13th Street, following reports of gunfire and a large, unruly crowd in the area.

When Newark police arrived, they found five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in what officials described as a chaotic and violent scene. Eighteen-year-old Brandyn Waters of Paterson was struck in the chest and rushed to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Carmen Martin, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office, confirmed Waters’s identity and death.

The four other victims—two 19-year-olds, a 24-year-old, and a 26-year-old—were also transported to University Hospital. Authorities report they sustained non–life-threatening injuries and remain under treatment as the investigation continues.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force has taken charge of the case. As of June 24, no suspects have been identified or arrested, and the motive remains unclear. Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office or Newark Police confidentially.

This tragic shooting adds to a recent surge of violent incidents in Newark, prompting community leaders to call for increased vigilance and renewed efforts to curb gun violence. Authorities emphasize that public cooperation is vital to bringing those responsible to justice.
