Justin Bettencourt Death – A deadly shooting in Roxbury has claimed the life of 21-year-old Justin Bettencourt, who was shot Tuesday afternoon in Horatio Harris Park.
The Boston Police Department confirmed Bettencourt’s identity, stating he later died at a hospital from his injuries. The violent incident unfolded around 3 p.m. near Munroe and Warren streets.
Officers responded swiftly to reports of gunfire and found Bettencourt critically wounded. Witnesses described a chaotic scene. One local, Phillip Mayo, said he heard several gunshots before seeing two men flee the area on a small motorcycle or moped. Another resident, Jack O’Hara, recalled seeing Bettencourt lying across Munroe Street in a pool of blood, calling the moment “gruesome.”
Investigators believe the shooting may have been carried out from a moving moped in what appears to be a drive-by. Two mopeds were found abandoned on Kensington Street, just blocks from the crime scene. Police have taken those vehicles in as potential evidence and are examining them for leads.
