Atherton High School Shooting Investigation: One injured after attempted suicide at Louisville’s parking lot
A self-inflicted shooting incident occurred Thursday at Atherton High School, resulting in one person being transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to officials with Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), the shooting took place in the school’s parking lot. The identity of the injured individual has not been released, and it remains unclear whether they are a student at the school.
The incident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement authorities.

Authorities in Oakland are investigating a shooting that unfolded Wednesday near an elementary school on Market Street, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Police responded to a report of a shooting just after 9:15 p.m. on the 1100 block of Market Street. Arriving officers did not locate any victims, but evidence of a shooting was found, OPD said.
Not long after officers investigated the scene, police were notified of a victim with a gunshot wound or wounds arriving at a local hospital. The victim was treated for their injuries and was listed in stable condition, according to OPD.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School shares the block with the reported incident location. Police did not release any information on potential suspects.
