Camarillo Murder Suicide – 91 and 89-year-old couple found dead in California

Camarillo Murder Suicide – A quiet neighborhood in Camarillo was shaken Thursday afternoon when authorities discovered the bodies of a 91-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman in an apparent murder-suicide.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, which has left the local community in disbelief.

Emergency responders were dispatched to a home on Brea Court, a small cul-de-sac near Calle La Cumbre on the north side of Las Posas Road, shortly before 2:30 p.m. Deputies arrived to find the elderly couple deceased, both from apparent gunshot wounds.

Sheriff’s Captain Ken Truitt confirmed the case is being treated as a murder-suicide. He stated that no suspects are outstanding, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of their family.

While details about the events leading to the tragedy remain unclear, preliminary findings suggest that the incident was confined to the home.

Law enforcement utilized significant resources in their response to the situation. Initial radio communications indicated a request for an indoor drone to assist in clearing the property, though the request was later canceled. This reflects the careful approach taken by deputies to ensure the scene was secure before conducting further investigations.

Detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit have been assigned to the case. Authorities are piecing together the circumstances, including the possible motivations and timeline of events leading up to the tragic deaths.
