An American rapper and performer, Darwin Turner, commonly known by his stage name Choppa. He made substantial progress in the music industry since his debut.
On Sunday evening, while returning from a performance in Mississippi, he was in a motor vehicle accident, which prompted apprehension among the music community and admirers.
He was transported to hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained. Although, the extent of the injuries are unknown at the time of this publcation.
Choppa’s debut album, Choppa, was released by the independent label Take Fo’ Records in 2001, marking his arrival on the music landscape. The eponymous single, which was featured on the album, soon became a local hit in New Orleans, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the city’s vibrant hip-hop scene.
In 2003, Choppa published his second album, Straight from the N.O., under Master P’s No Limit Records, building on his previous success. This album was a significant milestone in his career, as it climbed to number 54 on the US Billboard 200 chart, further solidifying his position in the industry.
Choppa’s versatility as an artist was demonstrated when he joined Roy Jones Jr.’s group, Body Head Bangerz, in 2004. Da Real Choppa, his third album, was published in 2005 under Body Head Entertainment. His fourth album, Comin’ Back Home, was released in 2006. Following a seven-year sabbatical, Choppa returned in 2013 with his inaugural mixtape, “Choppa Style.” This project served as his first solo endeavour in seven years and enabled him to re-establish a connection with his audience, thereby showcasing his enduring talent and enthusiasm for music.
