Death; Union Middle School mourns 8th grade student, 13-year-old Gus killed in Missouri UTV accident

Union Middle School Death – A 13-year-old kid was killed in a utility vehicle accident late Tuesday afternoon has been identified as a student of Union Middle School in MO.

The Union neighborhood is mourning the loss of Gus who passed away in the deadly UTV crash.

The Union School District revealed that the 13-year-old kid was an eighth-grade student at Union Middle, leaving the school community stunned and disbelieving that the teen’s life had been cut short too soon. Gus passed away unexpectedly.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that the fatal crash occurred around 6 p.m. along Sandstone Trail. According to the crash report, three 13-year-olds were riding a Polaris Ranger utility vehicle northbound in a field when the driver failed to make a left turn, causing the UTV to flip over. The 13-year-old driver was pronounced deceased on the spot.

“As far as laws go, when it comes to UTVs on the road, they must be operated by a licensed driver,” said Cpl. Logan Bolton of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. “But when it comes to private property, there is no age limit.”

The other two teenagers involved in the accident are expected to recover. “Crashes like these are always devastating and tragic,” says Bolton. “Nobody wants to witness a loss of life. It’s even more terrible when someone so young is killed in one of these crashes.” His obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family.
