Linda Boucher Obituary – Linda Boucher, a dedicated Board Member of Elmbrook’s Board of Education, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 12.
Her loss leaves a significant void in the Elmbrook community, where her commitment and passion for education have had a lasting impact.
Linda was in her ninth year of service and had recently announced her intention not to seek a fourth term upon the expiration of her seat this spring. Her tenure on the Board was marked by her unwavering dedication to the betterment of students and families, particularly those navigating disabilities.
Board President Scott Wheeler remarked, “Linda was always willing to listen to different perspectives on issues at hand, but her true north was guided by her experience in education and her passion for supporting the needs of students with disabilities and their families.”
This compassion and focus on equity underscored her approach to public service and shaped her contributions to the Board. A lifelong educator, Linda devoted her career to special education.
She began her journey at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, earning a Bachelor of Education degree with dual certifications in Elementary and Special Education.
Her pursuit of excellence led her to achieve a Master’s degree in Special Education and certifications in Administration and as a Director of Special Education. This robust academic foundation fueled her advocacy on the School Board, where she consistently championed policies and practices that promoted inclusivity and support for all students.
During her time on the Board, Linda served in various leadership roles, including Board Clerk, Chairperson of the Community and Legislative Committee, and representative delegate to the Wisconsin School Board Convention. She was instrumental in ensuring transparency and fostering public engagement in decision-making processes.
Her contributions to major initiatives, such as overseeing over $60 million in capital improvements across the district, demonstrated her ability to balance practicality with vision. The recent renovation at Fairview South School stands as a testament to her commitment to creating equitable learning environments.
Linda’s legacy also includes her leadership during the pandemic, where she championed flexible learning pathways to meet the diverse needs of students and families. She was a staunch advocate for literacy, emphasizing the importance of robust library resources and actively participating in author visits and literacy events throughout the district.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Hansen highlighted Linda’s lasting influence, stating, “My work with Linda was always grounded in our shared commitment to service in education. Her dedication to serving students and families even after her teaching career concluded was inspiring.”
